This is getting intriguing!
I don't know if it's relevant, but I notice that in RBG Edinburgh's
catalogue of plants, the authority for I. uniflora is given as Pall. ex
Link, and not as Zhao. Is it possible that two people have described
(different) plants as I. uniflora? This is a fairly common problem, but if
so, the rules of precedence should have sorted it out by now. Would it be
possible for you (Bob) to describe the plant referred to by Zhao? Or is the
reference to Zhao not the formal description? If the latter is the case,
then which plant was Zhao describing? Sorry, these questions are a bit
heavy-duty, but maybe a faint light is beginning to dawn.
