>>>> Jules ,RE Japanese Iris Let me know when the web page gets set up.
As I said before ,it will be a bit of a problem to grow Japanese Iris in
my slightly alkaline well drained soil .But what the heck Ill grow them in
plastic tubs filled with water.
>>>>Pacifics From Seed : Joe Ghio is a nice guy .I think if you talk to him
he would sell seed. BTW did anyone know he is an Ex-Mayor of the city of
Santa Cruz ?(UBI)
>>>> Wasting Away: I love Janis term for an iris problem ," Wasting Away".
In the south it has the name of "Mulliegrubs". It paints a picture of an
iris in a hammock w/ julep ,wasting away in the heat. ( Didnt Tennessee
Williams do that play?)
>>>>Iris Books: Believe me any book is an oasis to a beginner. But I am
warned about putting all my trust in the writer and translation . So..That
brings me to the subject, many of us would like to have a few names of books
that you more experienced growers would recommend . Names, authors And apx.
price would really help
>>>>Labels: People wanted to know the most permanent labels to for marking
their treasures. I have used a label that is made up of soft paper stuff
between two layers of thin aluminum foil . You can easily use a pencil to
inscribe whatever you want on these labels . There size is 1" x4". Yesterday
a saw thin copper labels at a local nursery .They were Apx.1"x3" The cost
might be a problem if you have acres to lable,4.00 for 20 labels.
Labels that you impress into seem to be a good idea
>>>>Sacramento
Im still working on going to Sacramento ,but I havent called the 1-800
number to find out more info Im sort waiting for info. back from my AIS
membership. How long does it take AIS to acknowledge your membership? I guess
I really have time before the conference rolls around .
>>>Was it warmer today. The national weather map looked as if it might be
.Spring IS really coming.
