Does anyone attibute any significance to the fact that the word 'iris' is not
capitalized in the quoted statement? It arguably should be if it refers to
the Genus Iris. Sectio names are also typically capitalized, but typically
used in combination with the generic, i.e. "Iris section Iris" for the
bearded members of the Genus. Names of the Familia are more typically
offerred as plural adjectives used as nouns, i.e. Iridaceae.
While some looseness of the definition seems to inhere in the phrase "not of
that species", there would appear to me to be some looseness on the front end
as well.
