Mike,
Now you've lost me.
The above statement says the only acceptable proof of introduction is
acknowledgment of same in an official AIS publication, but in a previous
post you said that the case of JANE PHILLIPS (and the dozens if not
hundreds of other cultivars like her) that were registered in the 1940's,
but that never appear as introduced in any publicly available AIS
publication presents no problem. If publication is the sine qua non of
introduction, is the AIS not severely remiss for not having issued
supplements to the 1949 and 1959 Checklists indicating the year of
introduction of all those cultivars that were undoubtedly introduced, but
never acknowledged as such by the AIS in print? And what about
introductions of the current year properly recorded by the AIS Registrar?
The R&I's are only issued after the end of the year, long after the show
season.
