Re: dipping the iris in bleach during transplantation

Hi, All:
Just a quick note to let you all know if my experience: Last August, when it was
hot and I was transplanting iris at my folks place, I threw the iris into a
solution of bleachy water. I had cut the fans and left them in the bleachy water
for at least half an hour. Mention was made the very next day that this would cause
the fans to die back. Of course, for me, it was too late. But I am pleased to
report that the fans didn't die back not did I notice any ill effects. Interesting
how we can all have such different experiences doing the same thing.
On a side note, it has been so warm in our part of California that my marigolds
are still blooming beautifully. I have to water the lawn because there is no rain
falling! As they talk about water rationing for next summer I begin to think about
how we are going to recycle our gray water so we can still have some semblance of a
garden. I guess I get to enjoy my marigolds all winter in lieu of having anything
growing next summer! What an interesting life this is, isn't it?
