Janet,
If you have hybridized an iris you think is worthy of registration and
introduction, you should go ahead and register it yourself. The
instructions for doing so are published periodically in the AIS Bulletin
(most recently in July '98, I believe). As for introduction, it is often
arranged that more experienced hybridizers with established commercial
gardens perform that service for "backyard hybridizers". For example, for
the past four years the Kaspereks' Zebra Iris Gardens have been introducing
irises for two such hybridizers here in Utah, Hyram Ames and Don Nebeker.
Before that Hyram had an arrangement whereby Comanche Acres Iris Garden in
Missouri introduced his irises for him. In any case, the credit for the
iris goes to the hybridizer/registrant, not the introducer, so that if you
make an arrangeent with Worldwide Iris Gardens to introduce an iris you
have hybridized and registered, it will appear in their catalog and
elsewhere as MY FIRST LOVE (Natale, '01).
