I should have written:
If you're going to buy a good lens you should consider getting
a tripod as well. This will allow you to decrease the lens
aperture to its smallest opening and increase the time of
exposure, so that as much of your subject will be in focus
as possible as well as minimizing camera movement/blur.
The aperture or adjustable lens opening is in the lens. The
shutter which controls the time of exposure is in the camera.
