Hey, all,
I'm the one whose hybridizing goal is to breed pinks without the hot
tangerine/orange/coral/red beards. Preferably blue beards, though
will be thrilled with white or true pink.
I'm about to send off my first order for 2001--to Riverside, whose
catalog has been out at least a month, and who has just about
everything you'd ever want, at a modest price. (Though I'm saving
some for Sutton's and others I regularly order from.)
What I'm wondering while I'm making my crossing plans is what happens
when you cross with a white. I don't think the subject has come up
since I've been a part of this group. I'm sure it's nowhere as
simple as crossing a red with a white and getting pink, but I wonder
whether beards will be affected by crossing a pink with a white with
another-color beard. Is there any sort of glaciata effect by which
the white suppresses other colors?
Iris-addict forever,
