I would like some seed of Sassafras. It should grow here and I
sure like its fragrance.

FRIENDS:
Minority report. I abhor root beer. I do occasionally enjoy chewing on a
twig of sassafras which is indigenous in W. NC. It is a beautiful tree which
at different stages of development has uni-, bi-, and tri- lobed leaves. It
can grow 10 meters or more -- I have one reaching for the sun between mammoth
oaks. But it is more often a bushy, undergrowth tree. The leaves and twigs
have a wonderful, subtle aroma!
I can surely find some seed -- small holly like berries -- this fall if
anyone would like a try. I have never tried to germinate them since there is
no need to here.
