The following definition was taken from The Iris Book, Molly Price. It
pretty much defines a variegata as explained to me when I first started
growing irises about 40 years ago.
"The bold variegata pattern of contrasting yellow standards and purple,
red, or brown falls...."
Edith Wolford, Vigilante, Michigan Pride, Supreme Sultan, Circus World,
Gypsy Caravan, Taco Supreme, City Slicker are all, by definition,
variegatas.
