Hello List,
Please respond if you can offer any advice from your experience. This
is an
idea I have and would like to know if I am way off track, or will it work? I
hate to waste the little pollen I have from my arilbreds.
I have 40 different arilbreds and Oyez. I am trying to come up with a
cross for it, and successful crosses for the new year.
I was wondering if anyone has used diploid irises with the aril
hybrids(pure arils). I was thinking that the chromosomes might match up.
Would this idea work with an arilbred +'s.
I have had good luck with hybridizing the even arilbreds with each
other,
plus newer tb's, and the less than half arilbreds(-'s) also. One thing I
have noticed is that the seedlings tend to resemble the pod parent. So I
don't use tb's as pod parents any more.
Sincerely,
Steve
