Yes, the TB pod parent does take away the aril characteristics. In
this climate, there is hardly any other bearded in bloom when the
arilbreds bloom, so I have to save the arilbred pollen and out of
necessity put it on SDB's or TB's. The arilbreds bloom before the
bearded here. There may be a scattering of SDB's and hardly any TB's
when the arilbreds peak. Rarely do I have fresh bearded pollen to
put on an arilbred. I have frozen bearded pollen in the fall from
rebloomers to use.
Steve, others, do your arilbreds bloom with the TB's?
