Hi Lorraine,
#1 A median is any iris belonging to one of the four middle height classes
of bearded irises, i.e. Standard Dwarf Bearded (SDB)- 8-16 inches, earliest
to bloom; Intermediate Bearded (IB) - 16-27.5 inches, blooms halfway between
SDB and TB; Border Bearded (BB) - 16-27.5 inches, blooms with TB; Miniature
Tall Bearded (MTB) - 16-27.5 inches acceptable, but 16-25 inches preferred,
blooms with TB irises.
Preceding the Medians in bloom are the Miniature Dwarf Bearded (MDB) which
are 8 inches or less. Blooming with the later Medians are the Tall Bearded
(TB) which are 28 or more inches tall.
#2 As far as I know, PCI and PCN are just two forms of abbreviations for
Pacific Coast Native Irises.
