Re: COMP: genealogy database

Human genealogy programs can be used for iris, but have a number of difficulties. 1) a variety which has been used as both a male and a female parent must be entered twice into the data base 2) only a limited number of "spouses" is allowed for each individual--10 or so 3)only a limited number of offspring are allowed--20 or so 4) if you want the dentrogram to follow horticultural practice with the pod parent listed first, you have to fill in the data base with the pod parent as the "father" and the pollen parent as the "mother" 5) in cases of seedlings used as parents with no seedling numbers, some designation has to be worked out e.g. a made up seedling number.
After using these human based programs for several years, I am looking for something made specifically for plant breeding which will go into a data base and extract the chart entries automatically. I understand that Mike Lowe has one of these programs on his Mac. Does anyone know of one for Windows?
