Re: CULT: winter aphid control

Well, actually, neither. They get plenty of frozen water off and on all
winter, in or on the ground and the plants.

I'm worried about freezing the gardener <g>. Also no longer have the
energy to struggle with 100s of feet of ice filled, or at least very
stiff, garden hoses, crawling under the kitchen sink to turn on then off
again the outside water supply, etc. Definitely an energy shortage with
the gardener.

One thing I had considered is mowing off all the excess foliage so the
aphids won't have much to eat or as much shelter, or maybe even burning
it off. They seem to hang out on the underside of bent over (cold
injured, but still green and alive) tall foliage.

Current approach is to squish what I see as I'm out looking at plants on
warm sunny days. Not very effective.
