I, also, spent time in a hay loft. It was my job to search the loft for eggs! 
 Several of the hens were renegades and it was an awsome task to keep baby 
chicks from falling off the edge!  Better to find the eggs the day they were 
laid.  

'lofting' brought back childhood memories for me too.
