Tyler, Texas
Howdy folks: The climate and acidity in Tyler is much more similar to
Louisiana than Texas. Tyler is located almost exactly between Dallas and Shreveport
just south of I-20. We get approximately 42 inches of rain per year and the
soil varies from sand to clay mixed with iron ore. Growing TB is something of
a challenge but many varieties do very well. Louisianas grow well as do
Japanese in spite of the blast furnace in the summer. Luckily we can also grow
lots of camelias and azaleas as well as hosta and helleborus and leopard plants
and once in a while a tough peony as well.
