Maybe we quiet ones should be referred to as "introverts" though according to my dictionary lurk is not a bad word and simply means: 1. to stay about without arousing attention; wait out of sight, 2. to be hidden, 3.to move about in a secret or sly manner. Words with a bit of color make language interesting just as irises with a bit of color make gardening interesting.
I have been silently reading and enjoying the postings for some months, and perhaps now is the time to ask my low-tech question which is the reason I joined in the first place. I am trying to locate an old fashioned iris of medium height. I haven't seen it since the mid-60's, so I may not be able to describe the look of it exactly, but I think it had purplish falls and beige (or possibly pale yellow) standards. It might be an intermediate bearded iris. This I do remember clearly: it had a strong fragrance of root beer. As kids we called it the "Root Beer Iris." I am writing a family history, and I would like to include a photograph of it. I would also very much like to obtain a rhizome for my garden. I suspect there are still some out there "lurking" in someone's grandmother's garden.
