Re: Re: CULT: SDB & MDB in the heat

SDBs that have done well for me are Cherry Curls, Forever Blue, Gumby, Blitz, Bleached Blond, Gaily Forward, Black Suede, Peach Petal Pie, Precious Little Pink, Star of Africa, and Aline's Other Love.
Of the MDBs, Petite Shadow bloomed last spring. The other four are growing well, but havent bloomed yet. I havent had had them long, and after our very warm winter so far, it would surprise me if any bloomed this spring.

Thanks Pat. I was just thinking of summer heat, not winter cold.
Interesting. They also might have fewer soil borne disease problems in
storebought potting soil.

If you have time, what are some of the SDB & MTB cultivars that have
done best for you? By best, I mean have been most disease free and
reliable bloomers.

Do you think it matters what size pot? Or just anything big enough?

get late afternoon shade. They grew for me in the ground, but didn't
bloom well until I put them into pots because the roots get colder in
pots, I think. I don't bury the pots. Pat>
