No, I use whatever I have around. Well aged horse manure and alfalfa
meal are always added. I will also add sand, sphagnum peat, top soil
(or potting soil), perlite, and/or gypsum if I have them on hand. Lime
and chemical fertilizers are added if recommended on a current soil
test.
