The photo sizes are supposed to fill the page. the thumbnails are smaller. I have noticed that some photos do not fill the page. My hypothesis for what is happening is that when the person reduced the size of the file they did it by making the canvas or photo size smaller instead of lowering resolution. I know we have all have e-mails that have photos and it is common for people to have problems with size. I am not that computer literate to know why every file can come out differently. I suspect with the multitude of photo programs out there there may be many reasons. At this stage of development there is so much work that I have not been able to troubleshoot this but it seems to be intrinsic to certain people entering and I think ultimately we will find what they are doing differently.

I had a chance to take a peek at the iris wiki... and I am wondering if the
photo sizes could be larger? I realize it's still in it's infancy and I
don't know what is planned.
One thing I think the world/public will want, which Dave's Garden already
has, is larger pictures. That's something I'll really like about Dave's
Garden; the public is able to contribute significantly sized pictures and
they are beautiful!

I feel I must apologize to Paul publically because if I understood an e-mail
he sent me privately Plantsteps is much different than my understanding. Mia
Culpa. I try to be somewhat savy of what is out on the internet. One of the
trends I have seen, is plant sites starting up that want to represent all
plants. When I look at them, I see the same information that is already in
place on Dave's Garden that was simply pirated. It makes me sad that these
sites just take the information from another site and make it seem like they
did the hard work of assembling it. It must drive the authors of Dave's
Garden
Wild. But it seems the internet is sort of like the wild west and you can do
whatever you want.

I hope people will forgive me for jumping to the conclusion that plantsteps
might be the same. I have a high respect for Daves Garden because he was
doing
for all plants what the Iris Society should have been doing in the same time
period for Iris. We are Late in coming to the internet, it is not easy for
plant societies to change.
