I'm bringing over a comment I made in another thread:These discussions that are in FB, how does one access them? I went there just to poke around since I was criticizing the place so based on little experience. Where are these conversations? It is a whirl of eye candy and live links, disappearing windows and links that take you to offsite pages. I'm sorry, it's nuts for me. I just want a nice "book in a quiet place", not a carnival.
I'm sorry, I'm irritated. Shaub On 1/8/2016 8:54 AM, Linda Mann wrote:
Actually, this isn't true. There have been some long complicated discussions on FB, especially in the hybridizer's group and the rebloomer group. When new people start asking questions about genetics, several of us refer them to the archives, which I think is probably why the archives still get a lot of traffic. And some of us have to go to the archives to retrieve information for these discussions when our brains no longer cooperate to spit out the info. ;-)One of the things several of us relicts from iris-talk try to do is encourage questions, get new people, who are more likely to be on social media like FB, started breeding irises.A few of those relatively new folks have started sending more recent newbies to the archives as well. The iris lovers group is more about pretty faces, but sometimes folks there ask technical questions, which usually wind up in the hybridizers group. There are several other Facebook iris groups, but I don't follow them..On 1/7/2016 8:46 PM, Robert Pries wrote:It also seems most do not wish to be confronted with ideas, pictures yes, but thoughtful discussion No!Linda Mann east TN USA zone 7b --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE IRIS
