In time ATT will get the knots out of their operation and present a
viable alternative. We are watching them closely.
My server closed down just before Christmas and gave everyone a month to
find a new home. They recommended that we all switch to Bell ie
Sympatico. I happen to dislike Bell as they held a monopoly in Ontario
for all telephones for years and were extremely arrogent. I must say,
however, that the difference in service is extraordinary and I would
recommend it to any Canadians that are thinking of a change.
My speed of downloading e-mails is very fast (20 seconds for a day's
worth) and I can download iris photographs almost immediately. Access
to the web directly or from an e-mail is instantaneous.
All this may have been helped by my switch to a pentium and to Windows
95 but even then my baud speed went from 14-57,000 without any change in
my modem.
I suspect that ATT will have similar quality as they were the same
company at one time.
