RE: The commercial nursery

Wasn't the idea behind the Loomis Test Garden to put irises through the most
rigorous growing conditions, presumeably to give an idea of the hardiness of
each one? Does anybody on this list send plants there? Maybe some other test
gardens could be established around the world (or at least the country) with
the goal of determining the best overall growers.

Barb, in Santa Fe, which could be a test area for high altitude and dry.

Now there is an idea, a new category for an AIS award. A category for an
iris proven to grow well in multiple areas. It would take longer to
certify because it has to be proven in more environments. Definitely
would take some AIS involvement.
