REF, HIST: ZEBRA

I remember having seen several inquiries about an Iris called ZEBRA
since I have been on this list. I have accidentally stumbled into some
information that may be helpful.
The 1947 Catalog of Long's Gardens of Boulder, Colorado, lists an Iris
they called "ZEBRA" Iris, with (pallida dalmatica folius variegata) beside
it. The Catalog shows a high quality black and white photo of some fans of
the plant, clearly showing the variegated foliage.
Lloyd Austin's 1955 catalog shows several clumps of ZEBRA in bloom.
He has it listed as pallida variegata.
I am posting this hoping that it provides some leads to those who were
interested in the status of this Iris. These old Catalogs are interesting
to check out at times.
