Andrew Wheeler & AIS Youth

Andrew, so good to hear from you and...to give me the opportunity to do a=

timely commercial for AIS Youth. Those of you who do not know, Andrew ha=
s
been a member of AIS since 1992, been an outstanding iris grower and
hybridizer and student in MA, won the Clarke Cosgrove Memorial Award for
Youth achievement and has been influenced by many, many great Iris folks.=
 =

We met him at the International Species Symposium in St. Louis May 1995.

For all AIS MEMBERS, the deadline for nominating Youth for the Clarke
Cosgrove award is January 31st and there are fewer nominations than there=

are deserving Youth!!! Grab your October 97 AIS bulletin now, pages 12-1=
3,
read the criteria and mail your nomination to Jean Morris tomorrow! Thes=
e
kids deserve the National recognition for the local encouragement you gav=
e
given them and they really benefit from it. Over the last 26 years, many =
of
our now very active members such as Perry Dyer (the first winner), Tom?, =

Andrew, others?, have made a difference. As a Mom of 1996 "Iris Kid of th=
e
Year", Kevin Gormley, I know first hand the difference this adult
information and encouragement has made. =

End of commercial. But, be sure to send your nomination letters today=

and buy your "Iris Youth Fan" T-shirts in Denver to support the Youth
awards and activities.

Rita Gormley, AIS Region 18, Cedar Hill, MO
