The Japanese Beetle life cycle takes place in grassy areas, so as we turn more
and more habitat into mown grassy swards we will have more of these imported
pests. They are one of the smaller beetle larvae that you find when digging in
grassy areas, and it is handy to have a pet duck to toss them to, not that ducks
come without problems.
I neglected to mention that the aforementioned milky spore only needs to be put
down in mown grassy areas. The usual gripe is that the neighbors won't put it
down so why should you, but I like your positive attitude better. It has to start
somewhere.
If only Japanese Beetles ate kudzu.
