Hello to everyone,
My name is Gloria, and I live in Northern Rhode Island right on The
Massachusetts line. Most Maps show that I am a Zone 6 but there are times
that I wonder. I have had some experience with a vegetable garden and also
with some bulb flowers such as tulips, daffodils, etc. I have 5 Iris plants.
Two were dug up at a site that was being demolished, two were received as
gifts from an order that I placed and the last was one that I just dug up at
the corner of my property where people across the street toss their grass
cuttings weeds etc. and among this mess was a lone iris growing, not to big
and it did not look to healthy, but it is now growing and seems to have
adjusted to being moved.
I do have a question. I am this year ordering some Iris from Scheiners and
also some from After Hours Iris Patch. My question, When I receive the
Plants from the nurseries, do I plant them right away, can I wait a few days
etc? The two I received as free gifts on an order of shrubs etc, I planted
about three days after I received them in a raised bed, This is the second yr
and I have had no flowers. But I believe that they do not get enough sun
light. Can I cut them back and transplant? Any help that anyone can give me
will be appreciated.
Thanking you all in advance
