Hi, Louise, and welcome.  I'm concerned about your comments RE Iris Soc.
membership.  Often new people don't realize that just joining a local society
does not automatically put them on the rolls of the American Iris
Society.  That
requires separate application to Membership Chairperson Marilyn Harlow,
P. O.
Box 55, Freedom, CA 95019, telephone 831-722-1810.  If you have done
that and
did not receive the January and April bulletins, contact Marilyn immediately.
If you did join through her, then eventually you should receive mailings
from your own region detailing its activities, as regional mailings evolve
from national membership.  You do not say where you live.  In Region 9 (IL),
the regional newsletter comes out only twice a year, so March and August are
the only two.  Some regions publish three or four letters per year.  Good
luck, and don't fret too much over lack of first-year bloom; the plant will
be stronger if it keeps its mind on what's going on underground.
