Well, from hot, windy, very dry Texas I would say Dave's advice is very
good. I haven't found any discernible difference in growth between rhizomes
left out for a week or so before planting than those planted immediately,
regardless of where they were obtained. Store in cool shade, though,
not in the refrigerator or hot sun. Water well after planting and then play
it by circumstances after that.

Texas Zone 7, USA - surely grasshopper capitol of the world at the moment.
A radio piece said something along the order of 75 grasshoppers per square
yard (or was it per square foot?) this year, equaling about 3 head of cattle
per
acre. Wonder how they (and who) gets to do the measuring? And what
size cow? They're hungry, unquestionably.
