Hello Friends,
I'm a new subscriber from Northern Massachusetts. Listed as a zone 5, I
think I'm really a 4. (one gardeners hint told me to pick tomatoes and I only
had flowers on my Early Girl) I have 2 iris beds already and I'm expecting a
shipment from Cooley's Gardens this month. After looking at all the latest
posts and the advice Cooley's people gave me when I spoke with them I have
two questions. I'm preparing a bed for the new iris that has been covered
with grass up until now. I was told not to fertilize but I wonder if
rototilling in some of my compost would cause any problems? There is one lone
iris that has snuck through the fence from my neighbors yard in the bed. I am
also preparing another bed by moving some peonies that are not happy with a
full sun and want to plant iris there from a bed that is getting way too
much shade. Am I asking for trouble?
