Janet,
Last Aug and Sep we potted up about 150 irises left over from our Club
sale with the intent of selling them in the spring. I would say we had
55%-65% bloom rate. Jay Hudson at Hudson Iris gardens pots up a lot to
sell each spring and I think gets closer to 80% bloom. He feeds the pots
about once a month.
As to how long you can keep them in a pot... depends on how fast it
increases and how big the pot is. Have to use your judgement. If you
have a cv that grows monster rzs and gives you 5-7 increases a year, you
better use a pretty big pot if you are going to leave it in place for
more that a year. :>))
