Problem with Rot?

I am having trouble with some of my rhizomes rotting? I have never had this
problem before, and I have had Iris for years. We had alot of rain in June,
so am sure this is part of the problem. I am moving, and will be digging up
alot of the Iris.
Any tips on how to prevent this, and also planting tips for those in pots. I
am in TX, where it is hot and humid already. I have planted some of them up,
and have planted them really shallow in a mix of potting soil/sand/peat. Now
I am not sure if this was the right mix. I have only had a few rot, and I
also found one of my rebloomers that had alittle area of rot when I was
removing it from the bed.
I dip my rhizomes in a 50/50 bleach/water and dry prior to any replanting.
Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Amy
