Don't have it here my part of Texas much, but then I haven't had a lot of
rain
for some time now. I think if you will make sure those you're potting don't
exhibit signs of rot, you will be okay. I water pots from the bottom and
keep them in morning sun under oak tree shade. To be sure, you might
let those you're digging dry out for an afternoon in the coolest, shadiest
spot you can locate. The bleach bath should also help. Sounds like you
are doing pretty much the routine which has been successful for me. I
can't offer much advice about the soil mix. I pretty use whatever is at
hand and try to give it enough grit for good drainage. Potting irises is
always a temporary measure for me and I've used it mostly with new
acquisitions and occasionally to try and salvage a ne'er do well speciman.
