Jim and Cindy,
My ABs must be wimps, as they do not seem to repel weeds any better than
TBs or medians - which is not very well at all this year. I have just spent
the last four evenings weeding out one bed so that I can locate all the
above mentioned types of iris in order to dig and divide them. This bed was
weed free at the beginning of the bloom season (about two months ago), and
I have been faced with the daunting prospect of staring eyeball-to-eyeball
(I am 6 ft. tall) with prickly lettuce and other vegetable thugs night
after night! I have never had weed growth like this before. I must admit
that now that I have uncovered the irises they appear to have been unfazed
by the weedy incursion on their turf.
