That's a pity. I've used the electronic check list, but find it a little
slow and cumbersome. From the results I've gotten, I know the problem
has to do with database layout. In my real job, I archive old business
records on CD. I have no fewer than 90,000 records on one CD and am able
to access them by one of 7 different fields. It works a lot faster than
the electronic check list via my dial up connection.
The SJI has the Japanese iris check list on disk. It's only a little
more than 1700 entries, so of course it works well with PC based data
base management and the data is extremely well laid out. I have loaded
it on my hard drive so it works even faster. The hard copy check list is
only 60 pages, but I would never have tried to answer questions like
"How many registrations have 'Flashing Koi' listed in their parentage?"
With the SJI check list on disk, I KNOW the answer to that question.
Three--and I didn't need to be connected to the internet to find the
answer.
