I am sorry, I don't understand.
What I meant was that as Chariman of the Electronic Services Committee,
I advise the board on technical issues and manage programs to implement
their policies.
As a Director I argue and vote my conscience on what I think is the best
for the society as a whole on the issues that come before the board.

That is exactly right. If enough AIS members want a change and can
present their case in a convincing way to the board, policies can change.

I agree. Personally I do not think the data is in good enough shape just
yet for a CD. For instance, aside from the number of data fields, There
are Introduction and Registration entries that need to be combined
(e.g., a registration made in 1968 and the introduction of that smae cv
in 1981. This results in entries in two different printed Checklists.
These need to be combined to a full proper record). Not a big issue, but
one that needs to be fixed.
I have a limited crew of people that work on-again, off-again on the
project. It is after all, like most of the society, all volunteer. It
just takes a little time.

I think the total membership is over 6500, but it is hard for me to tell
because of dual and family memberships. I think the number of addresses
is just shy of 6000. We have no idea how many members have email, but it
is certainly increasing. A few years ago few of the AIS board had email.
Today most do. I read a statistic that last year over 60 million
households accessed the internet. AOLs subscriber base must be at 30
milllion by now and only a few years ago it was only 200,000 (and they
thought that was a lot at the time)

We are getting there, but that is no reason that you all shouldn't ask
for what you need and how you would like to get it. The electronic
checklist is a product, and like any good marketing guy, I need to know
what the market wants.
(Then I have to make the case to the management) :>)
