I'm in Eastern Ontario and portulaca reseeds here, it is spotty but I 
always get enough to accumulate it into a decent sized patch of 
colour.
I also have yucca, day lilies and several types of spirea as 
companion plants and shrubs.
I have a variegated iris ensata blooming presently and it the iris 
for the season.
We haven't had any rain for at least three weeks and the grass is 
getting crunchy.
