Yeah, they get inside the outer leaves on the fan (where pockets sometimes
form), nibble a bit on the soft tissue inside, and deposit lots of tiny
little black poop-dots. At this time of year they are basically looking for
a place to get out of the hot sun, and something moist to chew on. The
nibbling and organic fertilizer can promote bacteria/rot. In bloom season
they will often eat little holes up and down the flowere petals.
