I don't think earwigs are going to hurt your iris any if the iris are healthy. They live on dead or dying tissue. If you want to get rid of them any insect dust will do the trick. I just heard a garden information program on TV a couple nights ago telecast from So. Dakota State Univ. ag extension, and one of the questions they dealt with was about earwigs. What I'm telling you is basically what they had to say. And, yes, another "welcome" to iris-talk, where you always learn new things, and one of those things is that you have information to share and contribute, too. None of us has a monopoly on knowledge, which is one of the nicest aspects of this list.
