   p. 104 of current AIS Bulletin....Minutes of the Meeting of the AIS Board of
Directors at Memphis, TN, April 24-25, 2002. My copy came about a week or ten
days ago.

The subject of the symposium has been beaten to death on this forum, but
these proposals seem logical. It is not clear if Gerry Snyder is the author of
each one, but as chair of the Symposium Committee, he made the presentation
wherein the proposed suggestions for changes were stated. Perhaps, Gerry
can give us more information.

To me, the simplest thing would be to retire a cultivar to the Hall of Fame after ten
years in the top 100. If we don't change, somewhere down the road there won't be
any room for new additions as it seems some cultivars like DUSKY CHALLENGER.
STEPPING OUT, VANITY would be in the symposium forever.

Of the top ten on the 2001 Symposium, STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN is the only
iris from the 1990s that is listed.

If the ten year 'tenure' were instituted today, only about three out of the first
twenty-five would stay on the ballot.
