Yes it is a popularity poll, I would be willing to bet that time will change everything.  What were the top 10 most popular iris from 20 years ago?  Seems like an iris works hard to get into the top ten and then stays there for a while and gradually slides down.  If an iris grows well and is popular, well, then...it's popular and should be in the top 100.  The newer iris get the other awards and if worthy, climb the symposium chart.  Maybe I am seeing this from too simplistic of a view?  Was there something wrong with the symposium?
