The requirement is to turn in a voted ballot
postmarked by July 1 (which is too early for Zone 3,
btw) and August 1 for the Japanese iris section of the
ballot (which is too early for Zone 3, again). I do
follow the deadline rules but have contacted the
Awards Chair of the difficulty in our late iris
season...but we think you are all early, rather than
us being late. :-)
Of course Judges only vote in the classes that they
are familiar with (we hope ;-). For instance I don't
vote in the Aril, Louisiana, Pacific Native (CA) or
spuria classes.
Also, judges do not have to vote for the maximum
indicated in a category. That is an option that I
think most of us utilize.
Other judges will correct this info if needed...feel
sure of that.

he/she will not be a judge for long. It is a
requirement unless there are special circumstances.
Not wanting to doesn't warrant special circumstances
;-)
