I think not!! What we speak is something we like to call "English" but in
truth is a polyglot of almost every ethnic group that has emigrated to this
country. That also includes the assimilation into "English" of the rude and
crude colloquialisms which have, in turn, become misspoken, mispronounced
and misused as to the true meaning in their native tongue.

I think George Bernard Shaw said it best when he referred to the commonality
of the British and American peoples - "one people separated by a common
language!"
