SPEC: I. pseudacorus

A few years ago, I ran two conferences on invasive species, one in
Gainsville and one in Ottawa. At that time, I undertook a review of
the yellow flag as a serious invasive and found that it was only a
serious pest in a couple of locations, both lakes in the warmer areas
of British Columbia and Washington State. In most other areas in North
America, it is better desribed as a minor pest and often tolerated as is
the "wild" day lily that one sees in ditches throughout the NE.

The species is, however, a very strong plant and I have measured one
plant in Florida which was 8ft high!

Ian, in Ottawa where a massive application of nematodes seems to be a
significant step towards borer control.
