Hi Listers,
Well, this dad blasted humidity is playing havoc with my new irises. Put
them in pots and sat outside in the shade. Then boom, a summer thunderstorm
the next day. Humidity shot up and white fuzzy stuff started growing in two
pots. Sprinkled both rhizomes with comet, but one developed soft rot anyway.
So, now it is out of the pot drying from the Clorox treatment after I cut
off all the discolored area. Lost a side increase in the process. It is on a
paper towel, outside in the shade drying. Thank goodness it was a big
rhizome. I used Walter's potting mix recipe and instructions. There was no
sign of rot or soft spot when it was put into the pot. It went into the pot
the same day that I received it, too. I guess 2 out of 20 pots is not too
bad for a first timer. Oh, well... Hope it makes it.
