The AIS symposium has evolved over the years to simplify tabulating the
votes and reducing the need for a great many volunteers. Volunteer hours
are limited so it is up to us to decide how best to use those hours. Is it
better to use those resources to go back to a write-in vote or to get the
Check Lists into electronic form or any other of the myriad things we do to
promote irises?
BTW, write-in votes were the subject of a board discussion either last year
or the year before. It was reported that in the history of the Symposium,
write-in votes invariable got one or two votes only and were nowhere near
the top 100. As a result, the Board felt comfortable with deleting the
write-in option.

That suggested, I would be happy to volunteer my services to tabulate
regional Popularity Poll write-in votes. That does, however, mean that I
wouldn't be available to edit more Check List pages during the period of
vote tallying, John. Even we volunteers only have 24 hrs in every day.
