There is help. I have a symposium vote counting program written in MS
Access. It will be distributed to RVPs who may be interested in using it,
as it was done in a couple of past years. It is preloaded with the
symposium iris variety names. It could easily be set up to take write in
votes, and I say this just so you all know it is technically possible.
I've counted Region 14's ballots (as the largest region, a large number
of ballots), and I decided early on I wouldn't do a hand tally, so I wrote
the program (I'm a computer engineer). It cut the time to count ballots to
probably a third of the time, and is done by one person. Very accurate.
The task of tabulation shouldn't be seen as so overwhelming anymore.
