I'm sorry so many have had bad experiences with their extension services. Just last week I took a branch of a tree that grew from a bird planting that I could not identify though I suspected it might be some sort of pistachio. A master gardener immediately confirmed, Chinese Pistachio. I was pleased.

Well, a careful reading of my post reveals I didn't exactly say that ;-)
I said, "Many Extension services now provide useful services to all
farmers/gardeners, . . .
I was actually just trying to be diplomatic in light of my other
criticism .....the onslaught I feared was from *defenders* of the
Extension services. My own personal experiences with them have been less
than productive, but I have come to expect nothing more from any
government-associated bureaucracy.

This would be funny if it weren't so sad.....

Now this really is hysterical! I took one graduate level course in
Dendrology 26 years ago, and *I* can identify a green ash! Too
funny...(though I can see why you were not amused)

Small wonder.....
