P.S.   I forgot one other ingredient,  kitchen waste.    I do not turn my
mulch pile.   When I'm ready to use it , I remove the top part that hasn't
turned into mulch yet, dig out a section of mulch clear to the bottom of the
pile, then put the top part in the hole.   It is in a circular pen of wire
fencing.   I'm too old to turn piles and this works well for me.

Pat, what do you use for mulch?  Have you experimented with different
types of mulch?

One of these days, I'm going to get around to mulching some of mine.

<So, between mulch and pellets, I keep the soil in good condition to
grow iris.
I apply the pellets each spring and dig in mulch when ever I redo a
